Slide and PowerPoint presentations in the classroom (30 students maximum) introduce students in grades 1
through 6 to art through SDMA's collection. These programs are offered, subject to availability, on Mondays
through Thursdays, October through May. Programs are designed as an introduction and should be followed by a

- Little Red Riding Hood: Highlights the basic concepts of color, line, and shape using a well-known
fairy tale. (Curriculum connection: California State Art Framework Standard 1: Identify the elements in art, recommended for grades 1-3)
- Hey Look!: Increases students' understanding of art by teaching them how to "look" at a variety of artworks.

- Oh, California!: PowerPoint presentation illustrating the history of California through art from the San
Diego Museum of Art. (Curriculum connection: Social Studies, grade 4: California History)
- Made in America: This PowerPoint presentation traces the history of America through its art.

- Nature in the Art of Asia: Nature plays a major role in the arts of India, China, and Japan. This
PowerPoint presentation explores animals and plants, as well as Buddhist, Shinto, and Hindu themes in
SDMA's Asian art collection. (Curriculum connection: Social Studies, grade 6: Ancient Civilizations)
