Mexico: Promise and Possibility, 1829–1834

Through September 14, 2008

This intriguing display examines European influence in Mexico’s formation of a national identity through the work of German artist Carl Nebel. It includes five exemplary lithographs by Nebel from SDMA’s collection and one of the eighteen remaining copies of the album Voyage pittoresque et archéologique from UCSD’s Mandeville Special Collections.
