Manager, Institutional Giving and Special Events

Classification: Exempt

Reports: Director of Development

Job Summary: The Manager of Institutional Giving and Special Events is responsible for developing lasting relationships with corporations, foundations and government agencies and for overseeing a successful special events program for the external relations department of the Museum. Job scope includes fundraising from corporations, foundations and government agencies, reporting and stewardship to institutional donors and management of special events programs.

Qualifications:

  • Education: B.A. or equivalent in related field preferred.

  • Knowledge: A minimum of five years’ professional experience in development required, including a demonstrated track record in achieving goals. Past experience at a major cultural institution, preferably a non-profit is desirable.

  • Abilities: Ability to motivate and create enthusiasm while creating and working with cross-functional teams. A stable and mature individual with leadership qualities who has an excellent work ethic and who can be a role model for other staff. Ability to be culturally sensitive and respect diversity.

  • Skills: Good organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Excellent managerial skills and ability to be a team player. Supervisory experience preferred as well as experience working with volunteers. Excellent oral and written skills are essential. Excellent number skills. Expertise in Raiser’s Edge donor software and Microsoft Office required.

  • Other Requirements: An appreciation for the arts and enthusiasm for furthering the mission of the Museum A valid California Driver’s License, insurance and be willing to use it on the job preferred.
