A lost pair of shoes is the catalyst for this charming and beloved tale of a brother and sister’s adventures in South Tehran. When Ali inadvertently loses his sister Zahra’s shoes, the siblings must use their wits and their resourcefulness to hide the loss from their parents, make it back and forth to school on time, and to somehow find a way to get their hands on another pair. Roger Ebert described Children of Heaven, which was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1998, as “very nearly a perfect movie for children, and of course that means adults will like it, too…(it) glows with a kind of good-hearted purity.” 1998, Rated PG, 87 minutes. In Persian with English subtitles.
