Join the November guest lecture to hear photo and video artist Lisa Ross discuss their experience traveling over multiple years in and around the Taklamakan Desert of the Uyghur Region, officially called Xinjiang (or “New Territory”) by the People’s Republic of China. Ross will share how a relationship with the spiritual and vernacular landscape unfolded, and how they developed personal friendships with scholars inside and out of the region.

Ross’s exhibition Elegy to a Uyghur Homeland is on view at The San Diego Museum of Art November 5, 2022, through March 5, 2023.
