Raja Ravi Varma (1848–1906) is one of the greatest painters in the history of Indian art and the pioneer of “modern” Indian art. His work uses European techniques to depict Indian subjects and he was the first to make art available to the public through affordable lithographs. Dr. Sushumna Kannan, Adjunct Faculty at San Diego State University, presents on the life and art of this world-renowned figure.
